My family and I are obsessed with The Great British Bake Off, so I just had to write a story inspired by the programme.

Ellie Haines is the main character in this book and the story is told from her point of view. She despairs of her family who are frankly downright embarrassing.

Her brother is obsessed with getting on TV; her mum is going through some kind of Mid-Life Crisis and Dad's bad 'yolks' go to alarming 'eggs-tremes' (groan!) . . .

The only bright spots in Ellie's life are her naughty kitten Kitkat and her best mate Mads. But when Mads and Ellie apply for the Junior Cake Off together, their friendship soon starts to crumble.

Can Ellie win back her best mate, or will their friendship go up in smoke?
